The Brit Oval
"At approximately 06:30 Friday 13th April a very large compactor lorry struck the right hand pillar of the famous Hobbs Gate at The Brit Oval causing considerable damage (see photos). A vertical crack in the brick pillars, some four foot in length and over 2 inchs wide in parts caused the gate to become unsafe".
"The Operations Team engaged a highly respectable local building firm A.N.D Projects. Having inspected the damage along with the Operations Team A.N.D rapidly went into action by cutting out the affected fractured brick work within the inner / outer area of the right and left brick pillars and made the area good. "
" Further building work followed and the gates were straightened and re-painted. Following an extensive search, the bricks and mortar required for the rebuild were found at a brick factory in the Midlands. They were procured and then skilfully blended in/re-built to match the original pillars". The Brit Oval - Support Talk
